What is Rialto?
Understand how Rialto describes its onchain spot exchange and how a trading venue differs from a network, asset issuer and wallet.
Project overview
Rialto’s introductory announcement describes an onchain spot exchange built around PropAMM liquidity on Robinhood Chain, with a focus on crypto and tokenized financial assets. This describes the project’s stated direction, not a guarantee of present market availability.
Exchange, network and asset issuer
A trading venue provides access to prices and execution. A blockchain processes transactions and maintains state. An asset issuer defines the rights associated with a token. These roles can interact, but they are not interchangeable: network confirmation does not establish that a token is redeemable or that its issuer is solvent.
Spot exposure and derivatives
A spot exchange transfers an asset against another asset. A derivative instead creates exposure under a separate contract. When assessing a tokenized market, inspect the instrument itself: a token’s name alone does not establish that it confers ownership of the referenced security. The legal structure and issuer terms determine that relationship.
Questions to answer before evaluating a market
Identify the exact asset, network and contract. Establish what the token represents, which terms govern it, and whether restrictions apply. Then compare the executable quote for your amount with a relevant reference price. Trading volume, a familiar ticker and attractive branding cannot answer all of these questions.
